Towson loses CAA softball championship game, 4-0

Towson's women's softball season ended with a 4-0 loss to host James Madison (44-13) in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game Friday. The top-seeded Dukes won their second CAA title. The fourth-seeded Tigers finished the season 29-25.

More college softball: Coppin State (13-27) fell, 5-2, to Delaware State (34-16) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament elimination game in Ormond Beach, Fla. ... UMBC fell to Binghamton, 2-1, on a walk-off home run in the seventh inning of an America East tournament elimination game. The Retrievers finished 31-22. ... Molly Simpson's three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted No. 4 Salisbury to a 5-2 win against visiting Penn State-Berks in the NCAA Division III tournament opener for both teams.

College baseball: Maryland had a season-high 18 hits, including six in a nine-run third inning, as the Terps (31-19) took the opener of the weekend series at Pittsburgh, 21-1. ... Travis Turgeon has resigned after two seasons as head coach at Washington College, during which his teams went 30-45.

Women's college lacrosse: Washington and Lee senior defender Olive Waxter (Roland Park) was named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference first team.
