Tornado report in Southern Md. unfounded, weather service says

May 01, 2014|By Scott Dance, The Baltimore Sun

The National Weather Service does not expect to confirm any tornadoes from storms that passed through Southern Maryland on Wednesday.

Radar indicated a possible funnel cloud, prompting a tornado warning for portions of Charles and St. Mary’s counties about 4:30 p.m. But there were not reports of any damage significant enough to warrant surveying, according to the weather service.

At least 34 people died in tornadoes this week, with Arkansas and Mississippi the hardest hit.
