Blue Moon Cafe, the Fells Point cafe known for its hearty brunches and long, long waits for a table on weekends, is adding a location in Federal Hill.

“It will be exactly the same Blue Moon,” owner Sarah Simington said. “With the same rock-and-roll brunch we’ve been doing for 18 years in Fells Point.”

As in Fells Point, the location at 1024 Light Street (a former laundromat) will keep late hours on weekends, staying open continuously from Friday breakfast to Sunday evening. And the Federal Hill location will have a few things the Fells Point original doesn’t have – a full espresso and coffee bar, smoothies and a bigger selection of sandwiches at lunch.

Simington opened the original Blue Moon Cafe on Aliceanna Street in Fells Point in 1996. It quickly became a popular destination for brunch lovers, especially on weekends, when diners waiting for a table gather on the sidewalk.

Simington is planning to have the new Blue Moon open by Aug. 10.
