A 12-year-old girl was in stable condition after being struck by a car in Annapolis on Monday afternoon, police said.

The girl was crossing in a marked crosswalk at Hilltop Lane and Farragut Court at 3:15 p.m. when a passing car swerved onto the shoulder and struck her. Two other cars had come to a stop at the intersection, which has no stop sign or stop light but has markers to indicate cars should stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk.

The girl was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital and was in stable condition, police said.
