Honor Rouse's vision for Symphony Woods Park [Letter]

March 21, 2014

I was a member of the Rouse Company planning team that made the decision to permanently dedicate the land to the Symphony Woods Park in Howard County ("Inner Arbor plans 'wow' Howard Co. design panel," Feb. 27).

In 1964, Columbia developer Jim Rouse wrote a definitive statement regarding the future of Town Center's Symphony Woods:

"Today a magnificent stand of trees, this 40 acre woods will be permanently preserved and cultivated as a quiet, convenient and strikingly beautiful asset of the town."

Based on the above quote, the Inner Arbor plan would not be supported by Mr. Rouse. His vision for the park must be honored.
