Sunshine, wind, highs in mid-50s for first day of spring

Sunshine is expected to return with some gusty winds and highs in the mid-50s Thursday, the first day of spring.

Temperatures were expected in the upper 30s to start the morning, reaching 50 degrees by midday.

Partly cloudy skies were forecast in the morning, clearing out by the afternoon. Winds around 15 mph were expected in the afternoon, with gusts up to 30 mph.

Spring arrives Thursday, with the vernal equinox occuring at 12:57 p.m.

Temperatures were expected to drop to the mid-30s overnight into Friday.

More sunshine was forecast for the first half of Friday, with clouds increasing in the afternoon and highs again in the mid-50s.

Saturday could start in the lower 40s and reach the mid-60s, with colder air returning Sunday. After highs around 50 Sunday afternoon, temperatures could drop to the upper 20s overnight, with highs in the lower 40s Monday.
