Four running for three city council seats in Havre de Grace

No additional candidates step forward as filing deadline passes Tuesday

Four candidates are running for three seats on the Havre de Grace City Council in the May 6 election, after Tuesday's filing deadline passed with no new entrants joining the race.

The seats held by Council members David Glenn, Bill Martin and Joseph Smith will be contested in 2014. Smith is not running for re-election because he is instead seeking a seat on the Harford County Council.

Glenn and Martin, former Councilman Steve Gamatoria and first-time candidate Robert Robertson all filed soon after the filing period began March 4.

No one else filed before Tuesday's 5 p.m. deadline, City Administrator Jim Newby said early Tuesday evening.

There are six seats on the city council, with members serving staggered two-year terms. Council members Randy Craig, John Correri and Fred Cullum were elected to their seats in May 2013.
