Teenager shot in northeast Baltimore

Second shooting in area since Friday night

Baltimore police are investigating the Sunday afternoon shooting of a teenager in the 4200 block Belair Road, in the Belair-Edison section of northeast Baltimore, the second shooting in the area in less than 40 hours.

Police said an 18-year-old male was shot once in the back about 1:20 pm Sunday, on Belair Road between Parkside Drive and Shamrock Avenue. The unnamed victim, who was initially identified as a 17-year-old, was taken to a hospital for treatment. His was in critical condition as of Sunday evening, police said.

On Friday night, on Shamrock Avenue near Belair Road, police found a man who had been shot once in the leg during a robbery. The man told officers he had been approached by two male suspects who robbed him of cash at gunpoint. The man reported being shot in a struggle with the robbers. The incident occurred around 10:45 pm.
