After fire, Odenton apartments burglarized

Anne Arundel County police say 11 apartments in an Odenton building — which had been condemned following a serious fire on March 7 — were burglarized this week.

Property managers and residents discovered the burglaries in the complex on Peaceful Way in Seven Oaks on Thursday. Police believe the burglaries took place between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. Thursday.

Police said several firearms had been among the items taken during the burglaries. On Friday, police said one victim had seven guns stolen — but officers canvassing an area not far from where the burglaries took place recovered six of the firearms.

The March 7 had displaced several families, and the property management company had hired a security company to provide 24-hour watch over the building following the fire, according to police.

Police said they are increasing patrols in the area, and asked anyone with information to call detectives at the Western District Police Station at 410-222-6155.

It took firefighters from multiple jurisdictions three hours to bring the three-alarm fire in the building under control on March 7.
