Havre de Grace Activity Center will remain closed Friday, except for tax appointments

Heating system repairs continue after contractor damaged coolant line Monday

March 13, 2014|AEGIS STAFF REPORT

The Havre de Grace Activity Center, located at 351 Lewis Lane, will be closed to most activities on Friday, March 14, because of ongoing heating system repairs, Harford County government said.

The exception will be previously made appointments for tax preparation help.

The center has been closed most of this week. A contractor installing fiber optic cable ruptured a coolant line to the center's geothermal hearing and cooling system. There have been complications in making repairs, a county spokesperson said Wednesday.

As Friday had been scheduled to be one of the center's AARP Tax-Aide Preparation Days, the center will be open on Friday only for those citizens who have pre-scheduled appointments for the AARP Tax Preparation Day, according to a county news release. All other activities are either canceled or have been relocated to other sites.

Citizens with questions regarding the status of programs at the facility can contact the Havre de Grace Activity Center at 410-939-6724.
