Teen on motorcycle killed after crash on Route 198 in Maryland City

Howard police say the bike was stolen

A 17-year-old riding a stolen motorcycle was killed Saturday night and the driver of an automobile was seriously injured in a crash on state Route 198 in Anne Arundel County. A rider on a second motorcycle fled the scene.

According to county police, Ira Tracy Matthews, 53, of Laurel, was making a left-hand turn on to Race Track Road at about 10:30 p.m. when his Isuzu was struck by the motorcycle. The driver was ejected and declared dead at the scene. Matthews was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he was reported in serious but stable condition.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, the driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Gregory Lee Anderson, 17, of Jessup. The motorcycle had been reported stolen to Howard County police.
