Sara Tarbert scored 17 points, but it wasn't enough for seventh-seeded UMBC (4-25), whose season ended with a 61-49 loss to second-seeded Stony Brook (23-7) in the America East quarterfinals Friday in Albany, N.Y.

Tarbert, the American East Rookie of the Year, reached double figures in scoring for the 13th straight game and added 11 rebounds, and freshman guard Emily Russo (Glenelg) contributed 11 points.

A 20-0 first-half run put the Seawolves (23-7) up 33-15 at halftime, and the Retrievers (4-25) trailed by as many as 25 points in the second half and never came closer than 12 the rest of the way. UMBC committed 23 turnovers.

Junior guard Jessica Ogunnorin and senior guard Chikilra Goodman scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Stony Brook, which advances to face New Hampshire in the semifinals Sunday.
