An Annapolis man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while walking southbound on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie early Friday morning.

At around 4:30 a.m., Gilbert Gabriel Buchacz, 60, of Annapolis was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado near Phelps Avenue in an area where there were no pedestrian control devices, Anne Arundel County police said. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Early investigation found that the main cause of the crash is pedestrian error. Police said excessive speed and alcohol were not factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
