Spokeswoman for Arundel's Neuman to depart

March 07, 2014|By Pamela Wood, The Baltimore Sun

Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman's top spokeswoman is leaving for a new job.

Walinda West, who is the county's director of communications, said Friday she's taking a job with the federal government in April. She declined to offer details of the new position, but she has previously worked for the federal government.

West expects to stay on with the county until mid-April.

Neuman said she was disappointed West is leaving, but understands that it's an opportunity that couldn't be passed up.

"It will be a huge void on the team," Neuman said. "Linda brings everybody together and keeps them all focused on all the good news in the community."

Neuman and West had previously worked together at the Howard County Economic Development Authority, when Neuman was executive director and West was communications director.
