Maryland sophomore forward Charles Mitchell will not be suspended for his actions during Tuesday's victory over Virginia Tech, an athletic department spokesman said Thursday.

Mitchell met Thursday with Maryland coach Mark Turgeon and will play Sunday when the Terps meet No. 5 Virginia at Comcast Center.

Maryland (16-14, 8-9) returns to practice Friday, after having the past two days off.

Mitchell, who has started the past eight games at center, was sent to the locker room late in the first half of Maryland's 64-47 win over the Hokies for being disruptive on the bench before and during a timeout. Mitchell had been "disruptive" during a late first-half timeout, according to Walt Williams, an analyst on the team's radio broadcast, and was later seen having words on the bench with Spinelli.

He returned to the bench with about eight minutes left in the game and did not re-enter.

Neither Turgeon nor Mitchell were available for comment, the spokesman said.
