KPMG buys Baltimore software company Cynergy Systems

March 06, 2014|By Scott Dance, The Baltimore Sun

Tax giant KPMG LLP has acquired Cynergy Systems Inc., a Baltimore-based company that builds and designs software and mobile applications, for an undisclosed sum.

Through the acquisition, KPMG sought to add more services for companies looking to use software systems to improve efficiency, productivity or sales, said Stephen Chase, a principal with KPMG. Cynergy builds and designs systems used in industries including health care, telecommunications, financial services and video games, and provides training to companies on how to use them.

Cynergy, founded in 1996, is based in the Bagby Furniture Building in Harbor East, and the companies plan to maintain the Baltimore office beyond the acquisition, Chase said. Cynergy also has eight other offices across the country.

The companies declined to disclose how many employees Cynergy has, citing concerns about competition.
