Manchester's Windisch named baseball player of the week for McDaniel

Manchester Valley grad has 5-for-5 game in 10-5 win over St. Mary's

Marty Windisch, of Manchester, a sophomore on the McDaniel College baseball team and a graduate of Manchester Valley High School, was named Monday as the Centennial Conference Player of the Week.

Windisch led the Green Terror (2-3) to a 1-2 week, hitting .545 for the period of Feb. 24 to March 2. Team officials said he went 5-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in a 10-5 win at St. Mary's on Saturday.

For the season, he’s hitting .389, and has also pitched six innings, allowing one earned run and striking out two.

McDaniel will play its home opener against Catholic University on Thursday at 3 p.m.
