Humane society gets cold feet and postpones Valentine's Day pet wedding

Icy roads force adoptable animals to get hitched on Monday instead

Apparently it's not a nice day for a white wedding.

The Baltimore Humane Society was hoping Chico and TeTe — an adoptable dog and cat — and Aladdin and Jasmine — two adoptable guinea pigs — would be "married" Friday for its annual Valentine's Day promotion. But the winter weather has caused the organizers to get cold feet and postpone the festivities until Monday.

The ceremony — complete with flowers, wedding cakes and guinea pig bridal outfits — will now go on at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Baltimore Humane Society, 1601 Nicodemus Road, Reisterstown. There is even a registry with cardboard scratching pads and "Jolly Balls" instead of the typical human requests of blenders and flatware.

Now in its third year, the wedding and reception is designed to bring attention to the humane society's animals that are up for adoption. Information or to RSVP: call 410-833-8848 ext. 202 or email
