Loyola senior guard Dylon Cormier had surgery on his left hand Wednesday and is likely to miss the remainder of the season, the school announced.
The surgery was to repair two fractures sustained in the Greyhounds' game against Army on Saturday. As we wrote heading into that game, Cormier had been carrying a large offensive load for Loyola as one of the top scorers in the country.
The injury was suffered in Saturday's second half on a loose-ball situation.
"Dylon has been the soul of this year's team, and we are certainly thinking about him and wishing the best for his recovery," coach G.G. Smith said in a statement. "I know that Dylon will attack rehab like he does anything, with a great deal of passion and intensity, as he prepares to embark on his professional career after graduating from Loyola.
