A man was shot in the back in Northeast Baltimore's Belair-Edison neighborhood late Monday night, police said.

The 42-year-old victim was shot at around 11:20 p.m. in the 4100 block of Eastmont Avenue, near Archbishop Curley High School. Police said the man had parked his car in the rear alley of the block and began walking in the alley when he was approached by three men, who assaulted him. One of the suspects then shot the victim multiple times with a handgun before the assailants ran away.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment but did not give an update on his condition. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northeast District at 410-396-2444.
