Mother and son struck in hit-and-run incident in Baltimore County

Boy's injuries are serious but not life-threatening

A mother and her young son were injured in a hit-and-run incident Saturday night in Baltimore County.

The woman and her 9-year-old boy were walking in front of a fast food restaurant near Merritt Boulevard and Rabon Avenue at about 6:40 p.m. when they were struck by a dark-colored SUV leaving the eatery, according to Baltimore County police. The SUV was last seen driving south on Merritt Boulevard.

The boy is being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital for injuries that are serious, but not life-threatening, police said. The mother's injuries were minor; she was not hospitalized, according to police.
