Orioles' Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman slide in MLB.com prospect rankings

Right-handers Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman have each owned the title of being the Orioles' top prospect over the past 12 months, depending on who's doing the ranking and what time of the year it is.

In MLB.com's end-of-the-season rankings, Gausman had passed Bundy as he was ranked as the game's 14thprospect, one spot ahead of Bundy at No. 15.

In the most recent MLB.com rankings – released Thursday night online and on MLB Network – both pitchers slid slightly in the rankings, but Bundy was back ahead. He was ranked No. 20 and Gausman came in at No. 31.

Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez was the only other Orioles prospect to be ranked in the top 100, coming in at No. 68.

In MLB.com’s 2013 preseason rankings, which were unveiled this time last year, Bundy was ranked No. 2 and Gausman No. 37.

Bundy’s ranking was obviously hurt by the fact that he was shut down late in spring training with elbow tightness and underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery in June. Bundy is targeting a return to games in June.

Gausman’s ranking was certainly helped by a quick big league promotion in May, but he was sent back to the minors after struggling as a starter. He later returned to the majors as a reliever and eventually played a variety of bullpen roles.
