U.S. must remain vigilant for terrorism [Letter]

January 24, 2014

In response to Anhvin Doanvo's commentary, "Is every al Qaida group our problem?" (Jan. 20), I would answer no, but I certainly consider that every one of the militant forces in the world should be of deep concern, not only to our operating forces abroad, but also in every heart and soul residing within the shores of our United States.

Why? Because from the beginning when the friction originated, these militant forces openly announced that their aim in life was to annihilate every freedom-loving individual from the face of the earth.

You may recall that the planning for, and the execution of, the 9/11 attacks started within the boundaries of Afghanistan. Therefore, in no way should our federal government permit militant forces to organize throughout the world and then execute another powerful explosion which would make 9/11 resemble a firecracker.

If we citizens of our democratic United States of America are to continue to live and enjoy our freedoms, we must also be willing to protect that privilege every minute of every day with our very own lives.
