Wednesday's live racing at Laurel Park has been cancelled because of "extreme weather conditions" in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas.

Laurel and Pimlico Race Course will be open for simulcasting, though.

“It is better to wait and clear the track after it stopped snowing,” Maryland Jockey Club director of racing Georganne Hale said in a news release. “It is brutally cold out there which could have been an issue with the jocks. It is not bearable out there today for horse or rider but we should be good to go tomorrow when the temperatures rise a bit.”

Racing is scheduled to resume Thursday afternoon.
