Anne Arundel County firefighters fought fires on opposite ends of the county early Tuesday morning.

First, they were called to a house fire in the 1700 block of Columbia Beach Road in Shady Side just after midnight.

Some 50 firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Calvert County and Annapolis fought the two-alarm fire in a three-story home, officials said. It took two hours to bring the fire under control. The fire caused $350,000 worth of damage to the home, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire, officials said.

Then at 4 a.m., firefighters responded to another house fire in the 200 block of Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn Park.

There, some 35 firefighters from Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City brought the fire under control within 30 minutes, officials said. The fire caused $10,000 in damage to the home, which was vacant.
