Former Loyola Blakefield basketball coach Jerry Savage, who won 607 games in his 35 years before retiring in 2003, will be honored on Sunday before the Dons host St. Maria Goretti.

"It's a nice surprise and certainly unexpected," Savage said.  "Loyola was a great place to work and I enjoyed every minute.  It was a great run with a lot of special players."

The school last week announced that it will name the basketball court in his honor. Savage Court will be revealed at 1:45 p.m. with the opening tip set for 2 p.m. A post-game reception also will take place.

Savage led Loyola to five Baltimore Catholic League tournament titles and one Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association crown.
