Services set for Bishop L. Robinson

Services for Bishop Lee Robinson Sr., the city's first African-American police commissioner, who also led two state agencies, will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 18 at Coppin State University Physical Education Complex, Gwynn Falls Parkway and Warwick Ave.

Mr. Robinson died Monday at age 86.

Mr. Robinson steadily rose through the ranks of the city Police Department until being named commissioner in 1984. He was named the state's secretary of public safety and correctional services in 1987 and held that post for 10 years. In 1999, he became the state's secretary of juvenile justice.
