Blame the deed, not the breed [Letter]

January 09, 2014

Regarding Tami Santelli's recent commentary on the controversy over pit bulls, I rescued both my dogs ("Singling out pit bulls is unfair," Jan. 6).

One came from the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, and he was almost starved to death. Why don't we blame his previous owner for being negligent? Let's hold the humans accountable. Blame the deed, not the breed.

I wish legislators would wake up. Our representatives always throw this issue to the side. Meanwhile, people are forced to surrender their family pets.
