Loyola to dedicate basketball court for Jerry Savage

Loyola will dedicate its basketball court in honor of former coach Jerry Savage in a pregame ceremony on Jan. 19.

In an email to The Baltimore Sun and others, Loyola President Anthony I. Day said the court would be renamed "Jerry Savage Court."

"For parts of five decades, coach Savage patrolled Loyola's sidelines amassing over 600 victories en route to six championships," Day wrote. "More importantly, coach Savage is a tremendously generous man who had a very positive impact on the lives of countless Dons."

The court dedication will take place at 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 19, 15 minutes before Loyola is scheduled to play Goretti.

Savage left Loyola after compiling a 607-457 record from 1968 to 2003. He won five Catholic League Tournament Championships and one Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title in that time.
