A 23-year-old man was in critical condition Wednesday after a one-car crash in Millersville, police said.

Joseph Garrick Henehan of Millersville was driving westbound on Brightview Drive at about 7 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve near Sunnyview Drive, Anne Arundel County police Lt. T.J. Smith said.

The 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer began to spin, left the roadway and rolled over, Smith said. Henehan was ejected from the vehicle.

Henehan, of 656 Stone Wheel Court West, was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was being treated for life-threatening injuries, Smith said.

A preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed and alcohol were the main causes of the crash, Smith said. The incident remains under investigation.
