Body recovered from waters near Bay Bridge

December 28, 2013|By Pamela Wood, The Baltimore Sun

Police pulled a body from the Chesapeake Bay near the Bay Bridge on Friday morning, officials said.

The Natural Resources Police recovered the body shortly after 9 a.m. Friday and turned it over to the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, said Candy Thomson, a spokeswoman for the NRP. An abandoned car had earlier been spotted on the bridge, she said.

First Sgt. Kevin Ayd, a spokesman for the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, had no further information.

"There's no confirmation if the body we recovered was somebody from the bridge," he said.
