In this week's recruiting roundup, two future Maryland guards face off in a rare Terp-on-Terp battle.

Football recruiting

-- Class of 2014 defensive end/linebacker target Melvin Keihn committed to Virginia Tech on Tuesday, picking the Hokies over Maryland and Virginia.

-- Rivals.com football recruiting analyst Mike Farrell’s latest picks for uncommitted Class of 2014 Terps targets: offensive lineman Damian Prince to Florida State, defensive back Jalen Tabor to Alabama and McDonogh offensive lineman Jared Cohen to Penn State.

Basketball recruiting

-- Class of 2014 guard commit Melo Trimble had 25 points in Bishop O’Connell’s 78-72 win over fellow future Terps guard Dion Wiley’s Potomac team Saturday. Limited by an ankle injury, Wiley finished with 11 points. Highlights are available here and here.

-- Class of 2014 wing commit Jared Nickens was draining 3s and dunking with ease in a triple-overtime, 68-61 win Thursday.

-- Class of 2014 center commit Trayvon Reed was a “difference maker” in a 52-43 win this week.
