Why America is going down the drain [Letter]

December 27, 2013

Recent news has really made me want to speak out about our government and how it prioritizes things. Finally, Congress has passed something of a budget, but how can they think that it will help the economy if they don't extend the unemployment benefits for so many people?

There are so many homeless, hungry, sick and poor people in our country. What really disturbed me was when the president stated that he would like to see a gay or lesbian winner in the Olympics this year. How can he even say something like that when there are so many other needs in our country?

I remember some years ago when the government had truckloads of brand new computers and other equipment hauled to APG for disposal. What a waste. And then they buy a simple bolt for 200 percent more than it is worth.

It just doesn't make any sense. And then there is the money that we send to all of these other countries to provide them support. Some of them hate us and try to kill our people every day, yet we can't help our own people?

I really believe our country is going down the drain. The priorities are so messed up that it is no wonder our crime rates are so high and people get away with murder and dealing drugs on every street corner and neighborhood.

They have tried and succeeded in taking Jesus Christ out of everything, and this is not pleasing to God nor to those of us that have faith in Him.

Does anyone care that those of us who are not gay or lesbian and who love the Lord Jesus Christ are offended to hear this kind of talk all of the time? I don't think so. I just don't know what this world is coming to but I fear that there are going to be a lot of people left behind when Jesus comes back again for his followers.
