Baltimore Fire department gives Britcher Olympic send-off

Summer Britcher, a Baltimore-born Glen Rock, Pa., resident who qualified this month for a spot on the U.S. women's luge team for the 2014 Sochi Games, received a grand send-off Thursday from the Baltimore City Fire Department's Engine 29 station house, where her father is a captain. Kimmie Meissner, 2010 Olympic figure skater, and her brother, Eric Meissner, a firefighter and paramedic on Engine29, were also at the event. Several of Britcher's family members serve or have served the department.
