Feeling targeted by data theft [Letter]

December 25, 2013

I have been targeted because I shopped at Target and made credit card purchases ("Why hackers keep winning," Dec. 20). Sadly, this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

If this is a glimpse into our future, I want nothing to do with it. I envision humans scurrying about their entire adult lives fruitlessly attempting to stave off the cyber predators whose only reason for existence is to feast off the savings of innocents.

Protection of our assets will become tantamount to every aspect of our lives as we know it. The same applies to our attempts in vain to secure our very identities.

The cyber geeks, and not the meek, shall inherit the earth. The apocalypse cannot arrive too soon!
