Boys Basketball Game of the Week: No. 3 Milford Mill at No. 7 Randallstown

December 19, 2013|By Glenn Graham, The Baltimore Sun

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Milford Mill: Justin Jenifer, Jr., G; Allen Costley, Sr., F;

Randallstown: Jerell Cooke, Sr., G; Anthony Granger, Jr., F; Trevor Atelefack, Jr., F.

The visiting Millers have consistently seperated themselves from the rest of the Baltimore County pack, winning the last five county championships 90 consecutive league games dating back to December 2009.

This season, they have a dynamic one-two punch in Jenifer and Costley, plus a strong supporting cast that plays fundamentally sound ball at each end.

Injuries have plagued the host Rams in the early going, with senior standouts Devin Smith (broken cheek) and Chris Manning (broken hand) both out for an extended period. How well some other players can take on bigger roles will go a long way in determining the Rams' success.

Coach Kevin English is counting on Granger and Atelefack to step up. Jenifer's ability to break down defense and then pass or score sets the tone for the Millers and makes them tough to beat. The Rams will have to stay in front of Jenifer and also rebound well to win.
