Marcus Leak, a wide receiver who averaged 17.1 yards per catch before being sidelined late in the 2012 season with a broken toe, is re-enrolling at Maryland.

The school also said today that offensive lineman Larry Mazyck signed a national letter of intent. Mazyck played at Iowa Western Community College. His signing was expected.

The 6-foot-7, 340-pound Mazyck attended Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C.

Leak cited unspecified "personal issues" when he left school last summer. A source said the sophomore was not being punished and was in good academic standing.

In 2012, Leak finished second on the team with 23 receptions in seven games. He wears No. 82 -- a number once worn by former Terps and current Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith -- who Leak had said he looks up to.

Leak's return further bolsters a receiving corps that could be Maryland’s best. Stefon Diggs and Deon Long were having big seasons until suffering leg fractures in the Wake Forest game.

Maryland coach Randy Edsall cited Leak in an interview this week at The Baltimore Sun, in which he talked about depth at receiver.

“You have Marcus Leak coming back -- he’s been admitted back into school and will be starting in the winter session,” Edsall said. “We have [freshman] Taivon Jacobs who we teetered on playing this year, who is very, very good.”
