Man killed in stabbing on Greenmount Avenue

Homicide detectives investigating

Police are trying to identify a man found fatally stabbed Wednesday night on Greenmount Avenue. 

Officers working in the 2800 block of Greenmount Avenue were flagged down at about 7 p.m. by a citizen who told them a man was lying in the street at East 26th Street and Greenmount Avenue. 

The man had been stabbed several times, and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m. Police said he has not been identified and is currently listed as a "John Doe."

In a separate incident Wednesday evening, a man was shot in the back in the Belair-Edison neighborhood. The man was shot in the 3200 block of Brendan Ave. shortly before 6:30 p.m. and was expected to survive his injuries, police said.
