December 18, 2013|By Colin Campbell, The Baltimore Sun

Three firefighters were injured in a car fire explosion downtown Wednesday night, Fire Department spokesman Ian Brennan said.

The firefighters had been tending to the car fire near the intersection of North Calvert and East Pleasant streets around 7:30 p.m., when it exploded, burning three of them.

All three were taken to local hospitals — one to Mercy and the other two to Johns Hopkins Bayview — with minor injuries, Brennan said.
