Almost six weeks after its season ended, McDonogh's football team debuted at No. 48 in the Student Sports FAB 50 national football rankings released on Tuesday.

The Eagles, The Baltimore Sun's No. 1 team, went undefeated and captured the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship. They finished 11-0 with a 37-6 win over then-No. 1 Gilman to clinch the A Conference title on Nov. 9.

Led by three All-Metro first-team players and All-Metro Coach of the Year Dom Damico, the Eagles won by an average score of 36-8 in taking their third A Conference title and their first since 2006. It was also their first undefeated season since 2000, when the Eagles also finished No. 1.

Linebacker Wyatt Cook was the All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year. Offensive lineman Jared Cohen and defensive back Josh Woods -- both committed to Maryland -- were named to the first team. Cook, a junior, received his first offer from the Terps last week.

Only one other team from Maryland is ranked -- DeMatha at No. 32. The Stags (11-1) are the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champs and are ranked No. 1 in the final Maryland High School Football Media State Poll while the Eagles are No. 2.

According to the comments on the FAB 50 listing: "Many insiders in Maryland also think that the Eagles are just as good or perhaps better than DeMatha."

Booker T. Washington from Miami is No. 1 in the FAB 50 poll. To see the entire poll, click here.
