Katie Byrne

Broadneck, libero, junior

* Ran the defense for the Anne Arundel County regular season champions

* Led the team with 176 digs, more than double her closest teammate

* Handled 212 serves, leading the team in serve-receive

* Led the No. 8 Bruins with 40 aces

Madison Carter

South River, hitter, junior

* Recorded 205 kills for the Anne Arundel County champions, almost half of her team's total

* Her 98.9 serving percentage was the highest on the team. Also recorded 30 aces

* Showed her versatility by leading the team in digs with 211

* Verbally committed to play lacrosse at Penn State

Katherine Gilbert

Notre Dame Prep, hitter, senior

* Controlled the offense for the 13-1 Blazers, who had an undefeated regular season

* Recorded 146 kills on the year to lead the team

* Had 25 digs in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland semifinals, and 170 on the year.

* Contributed 25 aces while serving

Sophie Hoekstra

Severna Park, hitter, junior

* Led an offense that took No. 2 Severna Park to the Class 4A state final

* Contributed 143 kills for the Class 4A East region champions

* Showed all-around ability by finishing second on her team with 116 digs

* Led the Falcons with 11 digs in Class 4A state championship match

Allison Orr

Arundel, hitter, senior

* Powered the No. 9 Wildcats offense with a team-high 214 kills

* Showed her versatility with 159 digs

* Was also a threat from the serving line, with 28 aces

* Her all-around play helped lead the Wildcats to the state finals in her sophomore and junior years

Brittany Orr

Arundel, setter, senior

* The captain of the offense for the 13-3 Wildcats

* Recorded 298 assists and 102 digs

* Led the team in serving with 59 aces

* Also contributed 109 kills, a large number for a setter

Morgan Perry

Glenelg, hitter, senior

* One of the area's most powerful and forceful hitters

* Led the Howard County runner-ups with 345 kills and 21 blocks during the season

* Took No. 4 Glenelg to the Class 3A state semifinals while contributing 259 digs

* Has narrowed her college choices to Yale, Tufts, and Pennsylvania and wants to play volleyball

Darla Svoboda

Dulaney, hitter, senior

* Dominant offensive force that led the top-ranked Lions to a 20-0 record and the Class 4A state championship

* Had a great match in the Class 4A state final, recording 16 kills and 8 digs

* Averaged 6.6 kills per game during the regular season

* Provided leadership to a young team during the Lions' playoff run
