Roundup: No. 15 Lakers rout W.E.B. DuBois, 76-43, in boys basketball

The No. 15 Lake Clifton boys basketball team brought full-court pressure on W.E.B. DuBois in the first half and was rewarded with 15 turnovers.

The Lakers built a 36-point halftime lead and cruised to a 76-43 win Thursday.

Lake Clifton (2-0) was led by Elijah Kess and Montague Wright with 15 points each. The Panthers fell to 0-2.

Girls basketball

No. 9 Howard 58, Atholton 34: Jayda Gilmore scored a game-high 22 points to lead the host Lions (3-0) past the Raiders (1-2).

Atholton had eight of 11 players score two points. Howard led 33-11 at the break.

The Lions have won back-to-back games, beating Hammond, 73-25, Wednesday.

Wednesday boys basketball

No. 12 John Carroll 66, C. Milton Wright 55: Kimbal Mackenzie scored a game-high 29 points to lead the host Patriots (6-3) past the Mustangs (1-1).

John Carroll has won two of its past four games and next faces Cesar Chavez (Washington) in today's Gonzaga Classic at 3:15p.m.

Boys' Latin 82, Old Mill 81: Devin Shewell made the go-ahead basket with eight seconds left for the visiting Lakers (7-1).

Jordan Brooks had 21 points for Boys' Latin and Keiandre Wilborne had a game-high 24 points for the Patriots (0-3).

Boys' Latin trailed 21-18 after the first, but outscored Old Mill in the second quarter 19-14 for a 37-35 halftime lead.
