Anne Arundel County police said Friday night they are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found in his Laurel home.

Police went to a home in the 8300 block of Frostwood Drive about 10:30 a.m. to check on the well-being of an occupant, according to a release issued by Lt. T. J. Smith. After a landlord let them into the home they found a man's body "with obvious signs of trauma to the upper body."

Though the victim has yet to be identified, detectives believe the body is that of the home's male occupant. Other occupants of the home have been located and are safe, police said, and the investigation will involve questioning the victim's friends, associates and family.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office for identification and an autopsy to determine the cause of death. But detectives are investigating the death as a homicide. Police said it does not appear to be a random incident.
