New signal puts Route 140 intersection in Westminster back in business

Earlier accident had damaged pole

December 13, 2013

The State Highway Administration was scheduled to reopen the entire Route 140/Sullivan Road intersection in Westminster on Friday afternoon after installation of a new traffic signal to replace one that was struck last week.

The new signal will be activated as of this evening, officials said.

Left turns and crossover traffic had been prohibited at the intersection since earlier in the month when a traffic pole was removed due to damage from a vehicle collision.

Officials said the new signal being installed today has wooden poles -- it was designed to expedite reopening of the intersection and will be replaced with a more permanent  design at a later date.
