A Bel Air woman was killed in an early morning single-vehicle crash on the inner loop of Interstate 695 in Towson on Thursday, according to Maryland State Police.

Police officials said troopers from the Golden Ring Barrack responded to the incident at 3:31 a.m. on the inner loop of I-695 prior to the Charles Street exit. Police said an investigation revealed that a 1997 Mercedes C230 was traveling along the inner loop when it left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier on the shoulder.

All lanes had been previously shut down along the interstate, but have since reopened, according to the State Highway Administration.

In other highway incidents, a utility problem on MD 26 West in Milford Mill between Washington Avenue and Lord Baltimore Avenue has closed the westbound left traffic lane for nearly four hours since first reported by DOT at 5:18 a.m. The center turn lanes an the state highway are bi-directional as a result of the incident, DOT said.

And SHA said that Baltimore Gas and Electric is relocating a section of underground gas pipeline beginning on Thursday along Security Boulevard in Woodlawn.

SHA said that the left lanes on eastbound and westbound Security Boulevard will be closed between Ingleside Avenue and a point southeast of the I-70 overpass. The closure will remain in effect 24 hours a day for about 11 weeks, SHA said.
