Steven C. Snelgrove has been appointed to succeed Vic Broccolino as President and CEO of Howard County General Hospital, it was announced Monday.

Snelgrove, who most recently served as the president of Lexington Medical Center and Davis County Hospital in North Carolina, was appointed by the hospital's board of trustees and will assume office on Jan. 16.

“We are delighted to welcome Steve to the hospital,” said Peter J. Rogers Jr., chair of the hospital's board. “His depth of knowledge about how hospitals work and his understanding of the health care delivery system will serve him well in his new role, allowing him to continue providing outstanding care for the residents of Howard County.”

According to a news release, Snelgrove has 34 years of health care management. He has spent the last 24 years with Wake Forest Baptist Healthcare System, where he held several positions including vice president of medicine and operations and director of facilities, planning and construction at the main academic campus of the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

“Having grown in his career as part of a large hospital system, he brings established skills working with both community providers and academic-based physicians to advance care in the community,” said Brian Gragnolati, senior vice president of The Johns Hopkins Health System’s Community Division.

Broccolino will retire as president and CEO on Jan. 15 after 24 years of service.
