Chesapeake Cancer Alliance Celebrates 10 Years [Letter]

December 05, 2013|Letter to The Aegis

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Chesapeake Cancer Alliance (CCA), we want to express our sincere appreciation to the entire Bel Air and Harford County community who have supported, in many, many ways, our efforts to raise money for the Upper Chesapeake Cancer Life Net over this past decade.

The Chesapeake Cancer Alliance was formed in 2003 by a group of dedicated women to focus fund-raising efforts on local cancer programs to help families fighting this terrible disease. With the motto, "Friends helping friends fight cancer in Harford County," CCA has grown from these few to over 150 enthusiastic members today. Over the past 10 years, CCA has donated nearly $700,000 to the Upper Chesapeake Cancer LifeNet program. These funds have helped countless families through Cancer Life- Net with direct impact on our local community.

Many CCA fund-raisers have become Harford County traditions, the annual Festival of Trees, the Decorator's Show House, bracelet sales, gift wrapping at Harford Mall during the Christmas holidays and the annual Cancer Memorial Walk on the Ma & Pa Trail. We look forward to another successful decade as we become part of the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation, working closely with the newly constructed Patricia D. and M. Scot Kaufman Cancer Center.

Kathy Welch

CCA President
