Man shot at Baltimore club

A man was shot in the back at a Southeast Baltimore club early Monday, Baltimore police said.

An officer parked outside the Voltage Nightclub heard gunshots at about 1:44 a.m. and saw a 24-year-old man leave the club with an apparent gunshot wound to his back, Baltimore police spokesman Det. Jeremy Silbert said.

Police had no suspects in the shooting, which remains under investigation.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries, Silbert said.

It was unclear why an officer was posted outside the club, which is located in an old Greyhound bus terminal in the 5600 block of O'Donnell St., next to the Baltimore Travel Plaza outside of Canton. The 12,000-square-foot dance club — which bills itself as the largest club in the city — opened in October 2012 with a 50,000 watt sound system featuring live DJs and three bars.

Detectives in police's Southeastern District station are investigating. An email to the club's management was not immediately returned.
