Police charged a man with second-degree murder Friday in the shooting death of another man in Laurel earlier in the week.

Anne Arundel County police said Saturday that a judge issued the warrant for Dequeone Demetrius Oates of Washington, who was arrested there and awaiting extradition to Anne Arundel County.

The police filed charges against Oates, 22, in the death of Alex Tyshawn Little Jr., 23, of Bowie. Little was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso shortly before midnight Tuesday in the Russett Green area of Laurel, police said.

Little was shot near the intersection of Ridgemere Crossing and Russett Green West. Police said the investigation is continuing and they have not established a motive, but Little's killing did not appear to be a random act of violence.
