Woman who died in Northeast Baltimore fire identified

November 26, 2013|By Carrie Wells, The Baltimore Sun

Baltimore fire officials identified a woman who died in an apartment fire on Monday as Charlotte Crowder, 33.

Crowder was found dead by firefighters who fought the three-alarm blaze in the 4400 block of Franconia Drive in the city's Frankford neighborhood on Monday morning. Several residents of the apartment complex had to jump from windows to escape the fire, and eight homes were damaged.

If Crowder's death is confirmed to have been the result of the fire, it will be the 19th fire death in Baltimore this year, up from an all-time low of 12 last year. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
